Our Office
Mission Statement
We are committed to upholding our reputation for:
- Excellence in orthodontic care.
- Building honest, trusting relationships with our patients and their families.
- Informing and guiding our patients as they attain beautiful, healthy smiles with optimized functional occlusion.
Office Hours and Scheduling Our typical work week includes appointments Monday through Thursday. Patients are scheduled from 7:30AM to 12:30PM and 2:00PM to 5:00PM. Our usual lunch is from 12:30PM to 2:00PM. On selected days we schedule patients at 7:00 AM or late consultations beginning at 5:00 PM. Generally we do not schedule patients on Fridays. Fridays typically feature continuing education conferences, collaborative meetings with other doctors, laboratory work, pre-treatment diagnostic studies and treatment planning conferences.
Orthodontic Emergencies Dr. Havener takes his commitment to his patients seriously. Dr. Havener provides emergency care, as needed, for his patients on weekends, holidays or vacations, day or night. When the office is closed, our office phone number provides access to a live answering service. The answering service receptionist contacts Dr. Havener (or the doctor “on call” in Dr. Havener’s absence). Dr. Havener (or the doctor “on call) then arranges the appropriate emergency care.
Scheduling Guidelines Most people undergoing orthodontic treatment have important obligations during the day, whether for work or school. During active orthodontic treatment, the patient might be seen as often as every month, and some of these appointments will conflict with work or school. We have put much time and effort into designing our scheduling system to provide you with excellence in orthodontic treatment. Like most orthodontic offices, a majority of our patients attend school. Every patient’s treatment will require several appointments during school or work hours. We schedule longer appointments during school or morning hours and shorter appointments in the afternoon. By doing this, we do not reserve an entire afternoon for one or two patients, instead we accommodate as many families as possible for after-school appointments. We have a large and growing percentage of adult patients for orthodontics and for temporomandibular joint therapy. We can offer some afternoon appointments for our adult patients. If you prefer to come to our office during quieter time, we suggest scheduling appointments during school hours.
Some appointments are very brief. During your braces or temporomandibular joint treatment there will be times when the adjustments can be done quickly, even when they are technically complex. We practice new methods that maximize our treatment effectiveness and efficiency, while seeking to minimize patient inconvenience. Because the schedule is carefully crafted, late arrivals can pose a problem. In fairness to the other patients, we prefer not squeezing the late patient into the schedule: instead we may need to reschedule the late patient. If patients must reschedule an after-school appointment on short notice, it may need to be rescheduled during school hours. The same applies to a missed or rescheduled appointment. We appreciate your cooperation as we try to balance excellent treatment with our staying promptly on time for our patients.
